Update
Users are now able to embed from any site that grants embed code for their video material. Also note that you can add a image still (poster frame) to the front of your custom FLV videos. When adding a custom FLV video add the key “start_image” to the custom fields. This image gets automatically re-sized to fit the player.

Download theme, unzip and upload to wp-content/themes/. Activate and enjoy!
Usage
Adding a video to a post works by adding “Custom Fields“. Enter the following Keys for the respective videos types: any, custom, youtube, metacafe, dailymotion, blip, veoh, vimeo, myspace, break, liveleak.
Then in the Value field add only the code of the video. Usually very easy to find in the address bar of the video you want to add.
Examples:
If the video you wanted embed into your post was: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbgySMqRO1Y
- Key: youtube
- Value: vbgySMqRO1Y
If you wanted to embed anything into your post use the embed code the service provides:
- Key: any
- Value: <object width=”425″ height=”344″><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/3IN7yJWi … </embed></object>
Please note that the height and width will get replaced by a predefined amountsIf you wanted to embed your own hosted FLV video into your post use the direct url along with adding a image still before the video plays:
- Key: custom
- Value: http://<youraddress>/wp-content/videos/video.flv
- Key: start_image
- Value: http://<youraddress>/video-player.jpg
Please note that the video does not need to have any predefined directory, just a direct address.

Limitations
This theme was not made for blogging. If you do make a post and not add a video, there will just be a large gap where the video is suppose to go. Also, a posts content can’t be too much otherwise it might out grow the length of the video block. Sorry about that. Also .MOV file formats are maticulously difficult to embed onto the web. I still have to find a way of doing this.

@bret: No sorry, the flv player does not support that kind of functionality.
@arda: video.google.com is Youtube. So just embed with that.
@kk: What do you mean poster frame?
By poster frame I mean a still picture at the beginning, before you hit play, Same question as Brett I guess. So If I link to metacafe or Youtube or whatever the player shows the picture from that site, but if I host the FLV myself I can’t set a picture?
This is not a limitation of the JW flash player. I have that elsewhere on my site, via a plugin, and it works fine. Any chance this feature will be added? Appart from that the theme is soooo cool, very clean and neat, but I’m not going to be able to use it if the films are just black at the start!

Update: I’ve updated the Video Theme. Now it allows you to add a start image to the front of your FLV movie. You can embed ANY video now and Hulu has also been added. Seeing that one can embed anything now, it makes me wonder why I split it up to start with… enjoy and keep me updated so i can keep on improve this theme.

I dont know why, but the theme size is too small, while I dont use text, but only display videos. I am working with WP v2.6. Anyone experience the same?

Hi there, great theme, however, I am unable to get my first test video to work. The video keeps loading but nothing appears. I have used ‘custom’ value and direct URL for the video. The video is a ..wmv file.

Is there a way to specify which category to display in the latest video widget? Right now it just shows the most recent post, regardless of what category it is in.

Is there anyway space can be provided for widgets and Ads. Perhaps a bottom bar. I’m thinking about using this theme but there isn’t enough space for hosting Ads. Presently, I’m using the German Newspaper theme as a video blog.

Also page functionality breaks if you set the permalinks to “Day & Name” or “Month & Name” I really prefer to use “name” for SEO purposes. Is there a solution to this?
