Update
People have requested for the classic widget control over their post page (single.php). I have uploaded the alternative theme for that, v1.1. Alternatively you can just download the single.php here and replace the single.php, same thing. The facebook theme on the demos.foxinni.com will stay on the default style.

@mihai, @Brain, @Kate: Thanks for the compliments. The color changing does make this them stand out. And the structure is perfect (dare i say). Some people said it’s just “ok”. Not that that is bad, but compared to what is out there. It’s a pretty well put together theme. I even got into a bit of a rumble with Garret over at Adii’s post about copying some one else’s design. He felt strong about it. So did I.
This simply ROCKS!!! I think Groogle.co.za might just launch with this theme

I’m really very very impressed.
Only thing I noticed is that on the posts page, you remove display of sidebar widgets.
I would like my sidebar widgets to display throughout the site.
How do I fix that?

@Richard: I’ve taken it into consideration and the fix is easy. The theme has been updated and is now like that in v.1.1. Alternatively you can just download this file and replace the single.php in your exciting theme.

Thanks very much for the personal email replies to my above comment. I opted to keep your original single.php and just hard-coded in the sidebar stuff I wanted.

Very cool theme!!! I was serching for a “How to skin WP themes” and randomly found this. As a User of both facebook and WP I really like this theme. Best of all it’s free.
the theme is good but the problem is that witht eh sidebards so narrow, one cannot add a good adsense ad (atleast 200×200) without the the sidebars acting wierd.
i hope the author atleast mentions how to increase the width of the 2 sidebars. Pls ..that would be very helpful.

This is so ironic. I’ve been building web sites with Joomla for just about a year, and this week a recent college graduate and young author asked for a “Facebook” style web site. After searching in Joomla and other Template Clubs to no avail, I remember hearing how Hot! WordPress is and thought it might be ideal for the new site. Much to my delight, not only is WP 2.5 a joy to design with, your “Facebook Theme” is a God Send! Thanks for the awesome work and sharing Foxinni. You mentioned a V2, when might that be? “…www.groogle.co.za has done a nice nav. That will be included in V2 of the Facebook Layouts theme.” I checked out the groogle site and it’s also awesome.
i love this theme but i am uanble to even add 200×200 adsense ad .. the the sidebars just come out of its location and move towards left breaking the whole theme layout

Wow, what a great job making it look so alike!
Again, the theme is awesome. I would like a single sidebar (primary sidebar on the left). I would like to completely remove the “sidebar 2″ and the container (from the right side of the theme); and have the main content section wide enough to reach the right border. It would be fine if all the widgets in the left sidebar were available in the remaining “single-primary sidebar” on the left. Where can I find help information to do this?

To all of the commentors: I see that many of you have come up with valid ideas of how to improve this theme. So i think it is time to start on V2. So some of the key aspects to take into consideration for the next version:
- Space for Ads… wider sidebars
- A facebook like Navigation
- Just a two column layout
- More facebook Cloning..
Do any of you have anything you would like to add?
-Add the option to add our own logo with or without the ‘home rollover’ that would redirect to home page. (Top left)
-Add the possibility to put icons before page titles in sidebar (just like facebook)
-Even if it’s not facebook liked, add an “on page” state (like bold text) to make it more user friendly and remember him he’s on the right page.
-All those previous width and column suggestion… make it all customizable, not forced.
-Customize post footers ( Written on + date by + name with X comments…) Let us choose what element to put or not.
-Reverse colors ! I would find it awesome to have a black background and white text + white bars.
-Put a title for the home page like “News Feed”, just like facebook ;).
-That’s beyond the theme maybe but I’d love a gallery just like facebook ones with the possibilty to comment the pictures…
-Use the whole facebook CSS. I’ve personnaly added the class for submit buttons that was missing in the theme.
-Maybe a bit of Ajax features like in the search widget just like when you type a friend’s name in facebook searcher.
defenitely need an ajax navigation… right now i have a music player that is being refreshed when changing pages…
The facebook theme certainly looks cool and bravo to your work. Just would not want to see too many people using it though.

I was trying to find where to make the sidebars wider because most of my widgets don’t fit. I noticed that you were thinking of doing that in your next version. Any idea how long until you put that out, or can you tell me where I can make my sidebars wider?
