Web Trends Map 2008

These kind of illustrations makes me weak at the knees. A piece like this takes you at least a minute or two to fully grasp. What is it? It’s a Web Trends Map. Based on the Tokyo-area train map, it is a meticulous display of 300 of the worlds most popular websites. I’m gonna try swoop some cash out of the budget this year and get the A0 copy for our office. Now that would be neat.

Here is a preview of the design, still in beta stages.

  2. They are killer indeed. It’s the whole semantic, interconnectivity and vector layouts that do it for me. So ye, gonna bend some arms at work and get one for the office.

  3. Fox this is a brilliant resource. Thanks! Something I’m def going to use in my training and strategy sessions. Digital Bureau in Loop St (Cape Town) will do the first print at R30, and subsequent prints at R9 each – all ex vat. If anyone wants a print let me know, I’m going to do 2 or 3 this afternoon…

  4. The downloaded A3 PDf does not allow you to print. Any advice would be appreciated.

Amsterdam, totsiens

Amsterdam, totsiens
I loved Amsterdam. I can do nothing but rave about how great it is. I most likely should be complaining about how expensive or how cold the weather was, but all I want to do is revisit this wonderful city with it’s whirling bikes and cobbled alley ways. One thing I really loved about Amsterdam was [...] read more

Torchlight, Diablo 3 killer?

Torchlight, Diablo 3 killer?
I’m making a ridiculous statement right out the gates and oddly so because Diablo 3 has not even been released yet. Why say it’s a killer? That’s because Torchlight is exactly what you’d expect the next Diablo to be like. From the start Torchlight submerges you in a neat new world, instantly throwing you into the [...] read more

Rome, Florence, Rome

Rome, Florence, Rome
Booked in the spur of the moment, we were on our way to a four nights stay in Italy. Two nights in Rome and two nights in Florence separated by a four hour train journey. Italy is an incredibly beautiful part of the world with amazing culture, breathtaking monuments and ridiculous traffic. For the backpacking traveler, [...] read more

A night in Betties Bay

A night in Betties Bay
Nils and Christi, my “doctor friends”, invited me along for a night with the old gang for a braai, two nights before I had to leave for Ireland. The next morning we went for a dive to take out crayfish. Sadly I don’t have any photos of myself in the Neoprene cladding. Please invite me again, [...] read more

The Killers, Cape Town, 2009
As promised, I will be sharing some of the love The Killers showed the attendees of yesterdays concert. Any chance we as Cape Townians get to go to a big concert, we leap at the opportunity. This was the case with The Killers live in concert, churning out about 20 000, individuals ready for big sound [...] read more

An emotional moment comes as I finally polish up this LONG overdue theme for my site. Many things can attribute to this theme taking well over 6 month to complete. Among those are the love/hate relationship I have with design, the lack of focus and the need to get everything perfect. My site is not perfect. [...] read more

District 9 out of 9

District 9 out of 9
This past week I went to go see District 9 again. The make of any good movie is one that you can watch twice in quick succession only to appreciate it even more. The subtle South African flavor coupled with a unique story, told in an uncanny documentary style fashion made for an enjoyable second [...] read more
