Booked in the spur of the moment, we were on our way to a four nights stay in Italy. Two nights in Rome and two nights in Florence separated by a four hour train journey.

Italy is an incredibly beautiful part of the world with amazing culture, breathtaking monuments and ridiculous traffic. For the backpacking traveler, Rome has a incredibly cheap metro system taking you right across town at €1 a pop. Definitely the best way to travel around the inner city.
