Lately I’ve been getting lots of twitter followers. I think it’s mostly because of my recent move to WooThemes and thus I’ve refrained from over posting to twitter. I really don’t want to seem like a loony toon who tells people what he had for breakfast, and only try sharing stuff that are genuinely cool and interesting. But that might be on the change (again), this is why.
So yesterday I made a tweet with link to and article about the Boy Wonder who helped Obama and Facebook get their online campaigns into high gear, basically getting Obama elected in many’s opinion.
My point is… I’ve gotten about 10 emails this morning from Qwitter updating me of people who has unfollowed me due to that tweet. And with that I just want say… you are all FAIL, and a big fuck you for not sticking it out for a couple of updates.
I decided NOT to post the list of people… there is nothing to be gained out of it. And thanks to Qwitter for being so brutally honest, even if it hurst.

Good article. Glad you blogged about it, because I’m subscribed to your blog feed (and now also your twitter).
I don’t use twitter much myself.
You cannot trust Quitter!
I hadn’t got any quitter notification since mid march and suddenley yesterday I got 10+ mails. All the mails said the followers unfollowed after a tweet that was just a retweet, and it had nothing to do to cause a kind of mass unfollow!
I think even quitter has some problem with API calls..
You say that you got “about 10 emails this morning from Qwitter updating me of people who has unfollowed me due to that tweet.”
How do you know that they quit *because* of that tweet? Qwitter claims to just show you who quit, and *after* which tweet they quit. That’s correlation, not causation, and you will know that those two are not the same.
Besides, I thought that was a quite a good article.
ps: very well designed site you have here.
@richard: I recommend you get into twitter. I think that there has been a bit of a boom this year in the amount of usage and new users. Hope to see you on it soon.
@aravind: You might be onto something. The fact that +10 came thought at once was weird. Will keep an eye on any new Qwitters. And yeah… my tweet rocked, imo.
@ig: hey bud. You’re right in thinking that there is no proof that that tweet is why they quit. Some people only log into their accounts once a week and follow very few people… then work through their twitter account like that. So if do happen to have made a bonker of a tweet.. that will piss them off and not be an accurate representation of why they quit. Thanks for the compliment… doing a redesign soon… can’t wait.
Qwitter is really a thorn in my side right now. Just like you, I made an innocent tweet yesterday about posting Earth Day resources to my blog. This a.m., 10 qwitter notices in my Inbox. Have been searching for a way to qwit qwitter! How do I do that?
That is a big fail, fuck em.
